Furman Softball Opens Œ99 Season

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -- The Furman Softball team dropped both games of its season opening doubleheader to Radford, Saturday at Varsity Field.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Furman squad was unable to hold on to a 2 - 1 lead in the top of the seventh inning. The Radford Highlanders rallied for four runs in the seventh to beat the Paladins 5 - 2. Ashley Rayl (0-1) took the loss for furman, while Jennifer Shellhammer (1-0) walked away with the game.

The Paladins were unable to return the favor in game two of the doubleheader, losing 4 - 0. A series of scattered runs sparked by a first inning score by Tracey Parks was all the Highlanders needed to improve their record to (2 - 0). The Lady Paladins are in action again versus Georgia Tech on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 1:00 p.m. on Varsity Field.
