LADY PALADINS RALLY, DOWN CHARLOTTE 2-1

CHARLOTTE, NC -- The Furman women's soccer team rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to down Charlotte 2-1 in a non-conference match Saturday night at TransAmerica Field in Charlotte, N.C.

Charlotte opened up a 1-0 lead at the 12:47 mark when Kelsie Ormsby scored on assists from Courtney Crandell and Kim Miles.

Furman evened the match at 1-1 in the 63rd minute. Senior Danielle Petro took a pass from Nicky Darling and beat the Charlotte keeper for her third goal of the season. The Lady Paladins grabbed the lead for good less than five minutes later. Kat Kelley scored her fourth game-winning goal of 2003 on assists from Darling and Kate Johnson for the final 2-1 margin.

"This was a quality non-conference, road win tonight for our team," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "I'm proud of our team for taking advantage of our chances to get a solid road win."

Furman outshot the 49ers 15-9 in the victory.

Furman, 7-4-0 on the season, returns to action Tuesday night when it hosts Clemson in a 7:00 p.m. match at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium.
