FURMAN'S EMILY TURGEON NAMED SOUTHERN CONFERENCE CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK

GREENVILLE - Furman senior Emily Turgeon and Chattanooga sophomore Diana Jallo have been named Southern Conference Women's Soccer Co-Players of the Week the league office anounced on Tuesday.

Turgeon, a native of Raleigh, N.C., scored two game-winning goals and three total goals to lead Furman to victories over Wofford (3-2) and Appalachian State (1-0) this past week as the Lady Paladins clinched their fifth consecutive Southern Conference title and increased their Southern Conference unbeaten streak to a league-record 24 matches.

The Lady Paladin forward now has 56 career goals, just three short of the Southern Conference record of 59 held by former Georgia Southern standout Tara Chiasson. Earlier this season, Turgeon became the Lady Paladins' all-time leader in goals (56) and total points (146). The 2000 and 2002 SoCon Player of the Year currently ranks second on Furman's career assists ledger with 34.

Turgeon, who has scored 12 goals this season, finished regular season play leading the Southern Conference with five game-winning goals and ranking second in goals scored.

Furman, 13-4-2 overall and 10-0-1 in the Southern Conference enters this weekend's Southern Conference Tournament in Greensboro, N.C., as the number one seed. The Lady Paladins will open tournament play versus Western Carolina at 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
