FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER SET TO HOST SELECT KICKOFF CLASSIC

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team will play its home opener this weekend as it hosts the Select Kickoff Classic presented by Land Rover at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium Friday and Sunday.

The Lady Paladins enter the tournament at 2-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in Southern Conference play. Furman is coming off of a 5-0 shutout victory at The Citadel on Tuesday.

"This weekend's tournament will help us continue to prepare for our Southern Conference schedule by playing top notch competition," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "Dayton and Clemson are top 25 teams and Rhode Island is ranked among the top ten teams in the Notheast region."

Clemson enters this weekend's matches with a 3-1-0 mark. The Tigers are currently ranked 19th by Soccer America and Soccer Buzz. Clemson's lone loss was a 1-0 defeat versus Texas A&M in last weekend's Clemson Invitational.

Dayton enters the Select Kickoff Classic with a 3-0-1 record. The Flyers are ranked 23rd in this week's Soccer Buzz top 25. After opening the season with three straight wins, Dayton played to a 1-1 draw with nationally-ranked Virginia last Sunday.

Rhode Island is off to a 2-1-0 start, having scored nine goals in three matches. The Rams recorded back-to-back 4-0 victories over James Madison and Northeastern before dropping a 4-1 decision to UMass.

Furman returns to Southern Conference action when it travels to Georgia Southern on Thursday for a 3:00 p.m. match.
