FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER ANNOUNCES 2003 SCHEDULE

GREENVILLE - The Furman women's soccer team, which opens the 2003 season at Michigan State on August 29, is set to face one of the toughest schedules in school history.

The Lady Paladins will face off against three teams who finished the 2002 season ranked in the national top 25 highlighted by an October home bout with in-state rival Clemson. Furman will also battle national power Texas and UAB at Clemson on September 5 and 7, respectively. Coach Brian Lee's squad will also pay a visit to nationally-ranked Charlotte on October 4, as well as, a trip to South Carolina on September 2.

The Lady Paladins home schedule opens on September 12 as Furman hosts the Select Kickoff Classic presented by Land Rover. Furman will face Rhode Island in the opening round of the tournament and battle Dayton on September 14.

Furman's home schedule also includes five key Southern Conference dates starting with an October 2 contest versus perennial league contender UNCG. Furman plays host to Chattanooga, Western Carolina, Davidson and Wofford to round out its home slate.

Furman returns nine starters off a squad that finished the 2002 season with a 16-6-1 record as it won its fourth straight SoCon regular season title, its second SoCon Tournament title, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four seasons.
