ELON, N.C. .-- The Furman women's soccer team defeated Elon University 3-0 Tuesday night at Rhodes Stadium on the campus of Elon University.
Furman led 1-0 at the half as Emily Turgeon scored her ninth goal of the season after receiving a long ball from Danielle Petro at the 10:45 mark.
Furman's Andre'a Morrison extended the Lady Paladins lead to 2-0 at the 54:56 mark with a 25 yard rifled shot past Elon keeper Kara Zagol after receiving a ball from Kat Kelley.
Morrison then scored her second goal of the night at the 87:41 mark off an assist from Alice Martin.
"I am pleased to come away from this match with a win," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "We have three Southern Conference matches left to play and we need to bring lots of intensity to each one. Elon is a solid squad and will be a force in this league in the years to come."
Furman improves to 10-4-2 on the season, 7-0-1 in the Southern Conference. Elon falls to 3-12 on the year, 2-6 in SoCon play. Furman has now recorded a 21 match Southern Conference unbeaten streak dating back to the start of last season.
Furman will return to action Friday night against SoCon foe Davidson at 8:00 p.m. in a home contest as part of homecoming weekend.
