FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNS DAVIDSON 3-0

GREENVILLE - Sophomore Andre'a Morrison scored two goals to lead Furman passed Davidson 3-0 in Southern Conference women's soccer action Friday night at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, S.C. The win extends Furman's Southern Conference unbeaten streak to 22 matches.

Morrison opened the scoring at the 1:43 mark, taking an Emily Turgeon cross off an April Raymer long ball and placing it in the back of the net. The Kernersville, N.C., native tallied her second goal of the night and 10th of the season in the 21st minute. Morrison, who has scored seven goals in her last three matches, took the ball deep in Furman territory and dribbled over 70 yards before firing a shot by Davidson keeper Sarah Hobart from 20 yards out.

Freshman Maggie Welder capped the scoring early in the second half. Alice Martin sent a cross through the box that Welder finished from eight yards away for her first collegiate goal at the 52:31 mark.

"We came out tonight and played another solid match against a tough conference opponent," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "I was proud of our team for getting the lead early and staying focused defensively for 90 minutes."

Furman improves to 11-4-2 on the season and 8-0-1 in Southern Conference play, while Davidson falls to 6-9-2 and 3-3-2 in league play. The win extends Furman's unbeaten streak to 10 matches.

The Lady Paladins return to action next Wednesday night when they host the Wofford Terriers.
