CHARLESTON, SC.-- The Furman women's soccer team played to its second consecutive scoreless tie as the Lady Paladins tied College of Charleston 0-0 in Southern Conference action Friday night in Charleston, S.C.
Furman tied Clemson 0-0 earlier in the week. The tie against the Cougars ends Furman's 17 match Southern Confernce winning streak, but extends its SoCon unbeaten streak to 18 matches. Furman's last loss to a SoCon foe was in the 2001 SoCon Tournament. The tie marks the first time in series history that Furman did not come away with a victory over College of Charleston.
The Lady Paladins move to 7-4-2 on the season, 4-0-1 in Southern Conference play. College of Charleston is now 6-5-1 and 3-3-1 in league play.
Furman outshot College of Charleston 12-7 on the night, including a 6-0 advantage in the second half. Lady Paladin goalkeeper Andie Hinshaw recorded her fourth shutout of the season.
"I am disapointed that we did not come out of here with a win," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "Every SoCon road match is a tough one, but we need to improve in the offensive third of the field or we are going to have trouble beating anyone."
