FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER OPENS SPRING SCHEDULE AGAINST PRESBYTERIAN

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team will open its 2003 spring schedule Tuesday at home against Presbyterian College at 7:00 p.m. The match is the first of eight on five playing dates on the spring slate for the Lady Paladins.

In addition to Presbyterian College, Furman will host the Region III Olympic Development Program (ODP) Team on March 28 and Belmont Abbey on April 2. Furman will participate in two challenging road tournaments in Durham, N.C. and Fayetteville, N.C. in April. The Lady Paladins will take on Navy and Duke in Durham on April 6 and will play Florida, Old Dominion, and East Carolina at the Cup of Life Tournament at Methodist College in Fayetteville on April 12.

"This is a great schedule for our team this spring," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "With such a young squad, we need to be pushed and the eight teams on our schedule will do that."

The Lady Paladins finished the 2002 season with a 16-6-1 overall record, including its third trip to the NCAA Tournament in four seasons and its fourth straight Southern Conference regular season championship.
