FURMAN'S ALLIE PARK SUFFERS BROKEN FOOT

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman sophomore defender Allie Park will miss the rest of the 2002 season after sustaining a broken foot in the first half of Furman's match against Coastal Carolina on Sunday.

Park, the 2000-2001 North Carolina Gatorade Player-of-the-Year while at Page High School in Greensboro, N.C., will receive redshirt status and retain sophomore eligibility next season. Park, who played through knee and shinn injuries last season, had started all four matches of the 2002 season.

"Allie is one the toughest players I have ever coached," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "She has played through so many injuries during her career and to see her go down with this injury is heart-breaking. I am thankful that she still has three years with us because when healthy, she is one of the most valuable members of this team."

Furman is 2-2 on the season. The Lady Paladins host take on Georgia Friday night in Athens at 7:00 p.m.
