FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER TO BATTLE #25 MICHIGAN STATE

GREENVILLE -- The Furman women's soccer team will play host to 25th ranked Michigan State on Saturday night at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $3 for adults and $1 for children.

The Lady Paladins enter the contest riding a seven match winning streak after finishing the Southern Conference regular season with a perfect 10-0 record. After a slow start in which Furman lost to three ranked opponents en route to a 5-5-1 record, Furman has not lost since to improve to 12-5-1 and has outscored those seven opponents 23-3.

Furman is led offensively by Emily Turgeon who has scored 14 goals on the year, while goalkeeper Andie Hinshaw has a 1.15 GAA and six solo shutouts. Michigan State enters the match with a 12-4-2 overall record and a 5-3-2 mark in the Big Ten. The Spartans are 3-0-2 in their last five matches. Tiffany Laskowski leads Michigan State with nine goals and five assists on the season.

"We are playing our best soccer of the year right now," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "I am looking forward to a tough test from an NCAA Tournament team so we can see where we stand. I feel like we are playing much better than we were earlier in the season when we went through the meat of our non-conference schedule."

The Berea High School Chorus under the direction of Kristen Batson will perform the National Anthem prior to the contest.

Furman played three ranked teams earlier this season and lost to Auburn 2-0, Charlotte 3-2, and Clemson 1-0.
