DRE MORRISON NAMED SOUTHERN CONFERENCE PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEK

GREENVILLE, SC -- Freshman Dre Morrison was named Southern Conference Player-of-the-Week for October 29.

Morrison helped Furman to a pair of conference wins over Davidson (4-0) on October 23 and UNC-Greensboro (5-2) on October 27. She contributed to the first four goals for Furman in the win over UNC-Greensboro as she scored two goals, including the game-winner, and added two assists. Morrison also scored a goal in Furman's shutout of Davidson, finishing the week with three goals and two assists.

Morrison, a forward from Kernersville, NC, was sidelined for the first half of the Paladins' season with a torn MCL. Since her return to action, Morrison has scored four goals in three matches, helping Furman to a perfect 9-0 record in the Southern Conference.

"Dre has really developed into a fantastic player," said head coach Brian Lee. "She worked really hard to come back from her knee injury, and it has really helped our team having her back in the lineup."

With Morrison's nomination, this week marks the third in a row that a Furman player has been named SoCon Player-of-the-Week. Junior Emily Turgeon received the honor each of the past two weeks.

Furman returns to action on Thursday as it hosts College of Charleston in its Southern Conference finale.
