FURMAN SOCCER MATCHES GO ONLINE

GREENVILLE, SC -- Beginning this season, selected Furman men's and women's soccer matches will be broadcasted with live statistics on the internet.

Using the LIVE software from The Automated Scorebook (TAS), the Furman Sports Information Office will be continuously updating Furman's new athletic website, www.furmanpaladins.com, as the match progresses. Fans will be able to follow the action with statistics, play-by-play summaries, and scoring summaries. Furman will use the software at all home matches and selected road contests.

"The interest in both soccer programs at Furman has grown tremendously in the past few years," said Furman Sports Information Director Hunter Reid. "We think this will be an effective and popular tool to increase the interest and exposure of our programs."

The Furman men's soccer team is ranked seventh in the nation in the College Soccer News preseason poll. The Paladins host the U.S. Under-17 National Team on Friday, August 24 in an exhibition and open the season on August 31 at home against Belmont at 7:00. Furman is coming off a 17-4-2 season in which it qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

The Furman women's soccer team is currently in Europe training and playing matches against premier level teams in England and Holland. The Lady Paladins open the season against LaSalle in the Baylor Labor Day Classic on August 31 and host Vanderbilt on September 6 in its home opener.
