GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team will open its home season Thursday evening at 7:00 against SEC opponent Vanderbilt at Eugene Stone III Soccer stadium.

The Lady Paladins are 1-1 after competing in the Baylor Labor Day Classic last weekend in Waco, Texas. Furman defeated LaSalle 2-1 and fell to tournament host Baylor 4-0.

Vanderbilt also enters the match with a 1-1 record after defeating Chattanooga 4-0 and losing to Kentucky 1-0.

Furman is ranked ninth in the NSCAA Southeast Regional poll.

Thursday marks the second ever meeting between the Commodores and the Lady Paladins. Furman won last season's inaugural match against Vanderbilt 2-1 on goals by Kaye Brownlee and Emily Turgeon. Furman is 4-7-1 all-time against SEC opponents.
