FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER DOWNS ETSU 6-0

JOHNSON CITY, TENN - The Furman women's soccer team downed ETSU 6-0 Sunday afternoon in Johnson City, Tennessee.

Lindsey Facciolo scored Furman's first two goals for her first multi-goal performance of her career. Facciolo's first goal came at the 2:44 mark off a cross from Kathy Gaertner. Her second goal came at the 17:44 mark as she tapped in a Melissa Turner pass off a Kaye Brownlee free kick.

Melissa Turner added Furman's third goal at the 29:40 mark as her cross deflected in off an ETSU defender. Furman held the 3-0 lead through halftime.

The Lady Paladins scored three second half goals in a five minute span beginning with Kaye Brownlee's goal at the 76:14 mark. Brownlee knocked in a Katie Carson flick from a Natalie Muro corner kick. Furman's leading scorer Danielle Petro added her 12th goal of the season as she scored at the 79:05 mark after collecting a deflected shot from Alice Martin. Furman's final goal came at the 81:15 mark as freshman Cristina Echavarry scored her first career goal off a cross from Emily Turgeon.

"I thought today's game went well," said head coach Brian Lee. "I think it was extremely important that each girl on that field for us contributed this afternoon."

Furman improves to 8-5-1 on the year, 4-1 in the Southern Conference. ETSU 1-10-1,0-5 in the SoCon.

Furman returns home on Friday to take on Chattanooga as part of a Furman soccer double-header. The Lady Paladins are scheduled to begin their match at 6:00 at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium.
