LADY PALADINS ADD ANOTHER TO RECRUITING CLASS

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman University women's soccer coach Brian Lee announced the signing of goalkeeper Christy Dupin on Thursday as the ninth member of perhaps the best recruiting class in Furman women's soccer history.

Dupin, a senior at Oldham County High School in Buckner, Kentucky, comes from the same area as four-year starting goalkeeper and graduating senior Melissa Barnes.

Dupin is the all-time leader in shutouts at OCHS and will finish her high school career ranked eighth in the state of Kentucky with 28 career shutouts. She was selected second team all-state in 2000 and was named an academic All-American in both 2000 and 2001.

"Christy's coaches feel that she is at the same level (as Barnes) and has a higher ceiling because of her natural athleticism," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "If everyone stays healthy, we should have the best goalkeeping corp in the history of our program."

The Lady Paladins finished the 2001 campaign 13-7-1 after capturing their third consecutive Southern Conference regular season title.
