THREE LADY PALADINS GARNER ALL-SOUTHEAST HONORS

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman seniors Melissa Turner and Kaye Brownlee were named to the Soccer Buzz All-Southeast Region Third Team while freshman Cristina Echavarry earned the Southeast Region's All-Freshman team honors.

Turner, who will leave Furman as its all-time leader in career points (134) and career goals (50), led the Lady Paladins in scoring this season with 14 goals and six assists for 34 points.

Brownlee will leave Furman as the Lady Paladins' all-time leader in career assists with 57, a mark that places her in the top ten in NCAA history. She finished the 2001 season with five goals and ten assists for 20 points.

Both Brownlee and Turner were named first team All-Southern Conference and second team NSCAA Scholar Athlete All-America.

Echavarry had an extremely impressive freshman campaign, scoring six goals and notching five assists for 17 points on the season. She was also named first team All-Southern Conference and earned the SoCon's Freshman-of-the-Year award.

"Kaye and Melissa have made tremendous efforts to get this team where it is today," said head coach Brian Lee. "And I think that Cristina is a player who will keep us moving in that same direction."

The Lady Paladins finished the 2001 season 13-7-1.
