FURMAN'S BROWNLEE NAMED SECOND TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICA

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman midfielder Kaye Brownlee was named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-America Women's Soccer second team this week.

Brownlee, a senior from Kennesaw, Georgia, has a 3.65 grade point average as a Health and Exercise Science major. She was previously named to the 2001 NSCAA College Scholar Athlete All-America second team.

Brownlee, Furman's all-time leader with 57 career assists, finished the 2001 season third on the team in scoring as she posted five goals and ten assists on the year. She will also graduate second on the Lady Paladins' all-time points list with 31 goals and 57 assists for 119 points.

"Kaye has been instrumental in the success of our program both on and off the field in recent years," said head coach Brian Lee. "This award is a great honor for her."

Furman finished the 2001 season 13-7-1.
