FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER FALLS SHORT TO APPALACHIAN STATE

BOONE, NC - The Furman women's soccer team came up short as they fell to Appalachian State 1-0 on Friday night at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Furman fell behind early in the first half on an Alana Parrett goal. Appalachian State's Jennifer Rudy received the ball on the right side and slid a low cross through the box. Parrett ran on the ball and knocked a shot past diving goalkeeper Melissa Barnes. The Mountaineers held the 1-0 lead into the intermission.

Despite spending the majority of the second half on the offensive half of the field, the Lady Paladins could not find the back of the net. Alice Martin''s last ditch effort from 25 yards sailed just inches high with four seconds remaining.

"Of course I'm disappointed with the result," said head coach Brian Lee. "We just didn't make the adjustments that we needed to make tonight."

With the loss, the Lady Paladins fell to 7-5-1 on the season. Appalachian State improved to 5-5-3. Furman will travel to East Tennessee State to take on the Lady Bucs on Sunday.
