ENTRY #6

One word for the day: OOPS!

There is a correction to the previous journal entry. We did not eat sandwich bodies; we ate sandwich butties. With an English accent, it sounds similar. Speaking of of English accents, some of the team (especially a certain female assistant coach) have picked up a bit of an accent themselves. When you're in Britain, do as the British do, I guess.

We had the morning off which was very nice for sleeping for those whose bodies would let them. We packed the bus up but decided to walk into the center of Chester. Chester turned out to be a decently sized city. There was plenty of shoppers for all of us eager buyers. Favorite stops included a tea shop for Kelly Shedd, a sports equipment cart for Nancy Mather, and a bridal salon for me. Nancy saw "a chalk drawing on the ground." She said, "It reminded me of the chalk drawing that the kids jump onto in Mary Poppins. I thought about jumping on it."

We had a pre-game meal at a nice Italian place called Cafe Uno. Our next job was to find the bus. We went to two bus stations before we found Ron, the bus driver. It was fairly humorous to walk down a street, turn around, go down another, and turn around again. We got on and headed for Wolverhampton to play the Wolverines.

Kelly Shedd described our performance: "We started out slow and went down a goal. We pulled together and came through with a win." The final score was 4-1. We definitely had a rough start trying to trap and pass the ball, all the fundamentals. The highlight of the game was when Melissa Barnes pulled a stepover spin move on a forward in the final minutes of the game. Melissa said, "people said I tried to shake the player, but in reality, I was trying to get the ball the heck away from me."
