FURMAN TOPS WESTERN CAROLINA 2-1

Cullowhee, N.C. - The Furman women's soccer team improved to 12-1 on the season with a 2-1 win over Western Carolina on Sunday.

Furman started the game with a goal by senior Sarah Tollick at 27:41 to five the Lady Paladins the 1-0 lead. The goal was followed freshman Emily Turgeon off a free kick by Tollick.

Furman outshot the Catamounts 19-6 on the day.

"Conference road wins are always a challenge," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "This league is improving and there is a reason the Southern Conference is 5-3 against the SEC and 17-1 against the Big South. Western Carolina is an extremely physical team and we are happy to get another conference road win."

The Lady Paladins will return to action Friday with a home match against College of Charleston. Furman is 4-0 in the Southern Conference.
