FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER TOPS VANDERBILT 2-1

NASHVILLE, TN. -- The Furman women's soccer team improved to 3-0 Friday with a 2-1 victory over SEC foe Vanderbilt in Nashville.

Furman freshman Emily Turgeon put the Lady Paladins on the board in the first half with a goal at the 27:18 mark off a Kaye Brownlee assist. Furman held the 1-0 lead through halftime.

Early in the second half, Brownlee connected on a penalty kick to put the Lady Paladins on top 2-0. Furman held the 2-0 lead until the 73:30 mark when Vanderbiltıs Jennifer Lewis scored an unassisted goal.

"We put together a solid performance tonight," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "Vanderbilt is a strong team and we played with them and beat them."

The Lady Paladins are ranked eighth in the Southeast region and are receiving votes in the American Sports Writers Poll. Furman has now defeated ETSU, Georgetown, and Vanderbilt.
