FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER EARNS NCAA BID

GREENVILLE, SC -- The 13th ranked Furman women's soccer team earned at at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament and will play at Duke on Wednesday night. The winner of the Duke-Furman match will play third seeded Clemson next weekend.

The Lady Paladins will be making their second appearance in the NCAA Tournament as Furman lost to Central Florida 1-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season.

Furman's match against Duke will be played Wednesday night in Durham.

Furman won the 2000 Southern Conference regular season title, but lost to UNCG Sunday in the SoCon final 1-0. Furman is 20-2 on the season.

"I am relieved that we earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "I would have liked to have made the field as SoCon Tournament Champions, but we will take this and make the best of our second NCAA Tournament appearance. Duke is a quality team and I look forward to our first-ever match against the Blue Devils."
