FURMAN WOMENıS SOCCER ANNOUNCES 2000 SCHEDULE

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman women's soccer coach Brian Lee officially released his 2000 fall schedule on Tuesday, the toughest schedule in the programıs seven-year history.

Three SEC schools, two ACC teams, and one Big East opponent highlight the Lady Paladins non-conference schedule.

Furman will open its season at home on August 26 against conference foe East Tennessee State before hitting the road for crucial early season matches at Georgetown and Vanderbilt.

Furman will host two tournaments this season in successive weekends beginning September 8. The Umbro Kickoff Classic is slated for September 8-9 and features Tulane, Charleston Southern, and Georgia State. The Lady Paladins will battle Charleston Southern in the tournament finale at 9:30 p.m. following a Furman home football game. The Umbro Challenge, the second home tournament, is scheduled for September 15-16 and features Mississippi State, Elon, and Georgia Southern.

Furman's home schedule also includes an October 25 showdown with South Carolina.

The Lady Paladins will travel to Clemson as part of the Clemson Invitational with matches against Clemson and North Carolina State on September 22-23. Furman will play two of its toughest conference matches of the season on the road in a three day span as the Lady Paladins travel to Davidson on October 14 and face UNC Greensboro on October 16.

"I am excited about this schedule," said Lee. "I think it will give us a chance to prove that we are one of top teams in the region and give us a chance to solidify a national ranking as well. We will definitely be challenged both in an out of the conference."

Furman is coming off itıs best season in school history with a 20-3 record and the programs' first NCAA Tournament appearance.
