FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER RANKED EIGHTH IN SOUTHEAST REGION


GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team is ranked eighth in the Southeast region in the Soccer Buzz preseason regional poll.

Furman spent all of last season ranked between sixth and ninth in the Soccer Buzz regional poll. The Lady Paladins are also receiving votes in the American Sports Writers national poll, which places the Furman in the nationšs top 35. Furman has been tabbed as the preseason favorite to repeat as Southern Conference champions by the league coaches.

The Lady Paladins have tallied a number of impressive preseason honors so far this summer as Melissa Turner, Kaye Brownlee, Katie Carson, Lauren Killey, and Bridgett Giles were selected to the Southern Conference preseason all-league team. Brownlee is an honorable mention preseason All American by College Soccer Online.

Furman returns nine starters and all seven all-conference picks from last year. They also welcome a strong freshman class, headlined by Emily Turgeon and Danielle Petro.

Furman opens the season August 26 against East Tennessee State at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium.
