FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER RANKED 17TH IN NATION

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team is ranked 17th in the nation in the latest American Soccer Writers (ASW) and Soccer Buzz national polls. The Lady Paladins improved one spot in the ASW poll and remained the same in Soccer Buzz.

Furman improved its Southern Conference record to 6-0 last week with a 2-0 win over College of Charleston and a 3-2 win over Georgia Southern.

The Lady Paladins are 14-1 on the season and have defeated two teams from the SEC, one from the ACC, one from the Big East, and one from Conference USA this season. Furman is 25-2 in its last 27 matches and has won 18 straight Southern Conference matches.

Freshman forward Emily Turgeon led Furman with two goals and and two assists in the two matches as she earned Southern Conference player-of-the-week honors.

Furman will travel to face Davidson on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last seasonšs conference championship match and face UNCG next Monday at 7 p.m.

In other polls released Monday, the Lady Paladins are ranked sixth in the Southeast Region by the NSCAA, fourth in the Southeast Region by Soccer Buzz, and are receiving votes in the NSCAA national poll.
