LADY PALADINS EDGE EAGLES, 3-2

GREENVILLE, SC --Two goals by freshman forward Emily Turgeon paved the way for the 17th ranked Furman women's soccer team Sunday afternoon against conference opponent Georgia Southern at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium.

After falling behind in the 24th minute on a Robin Thirsk goal, Furman forward Melissa Turner knocked in her team leading 17th goal of the season to tie the match. Turgeon knocked in her first goal of the match off a Turner assist to give the Lady Paladins a 2-1 lead going into halftime. Geogia Southern tied the match at the 70:10 mark on a goal by Andrea Pfeiffer, but the Lady Paladins answered back less than three minutes later as Turgeon connected for her second goal of the match.

"Geogria Southern is an excellent team that has scored a lot of goals this season," said Furman head coach, Brian Lee. "I'm glad we could finish up today's match on top and come away with a conference win."

Furman improves its Southern Conference record to 6-0 and their overall mark to 14-1. Geogia Southern falls to 11-3 on the season and 2-2 in the conference. Furmanšs next match will be on next Saturday against conference rival Davidson in a rematch of last seasonšs Southern Conference Tournament final.
