FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER COMMENCES PRESEASON PRACTICE

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman womenıs soccer team will report to campus and hold their first practice of the season Thursday at 2 p.m.

The Lady Paladins begin the 2000 campaign with high expectations after a record setting season in 1999. Furman is the preseason favorite to repeat as Southern Conference Champions and is receiving votes in the American Sports Writers preseason poll.

"I am really excited about the potential of this team," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "We have our sites high and expect another exceptional campaign. We have a tough schedule this year which will challenge us."

Furman returns nine starters and all seven all-conference picks from last year. Among Furmanıs returnees are first team All American Kaye Brownlee and all-south picks Melissa Turner and Lauren Killey.

The Lady Paladins also welcome a strong freshman class. Furman opens the season August 26 against East Tennessee State at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium.
