FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER TOPS CHARLESTON

GREENVILLE, SC -- The 17th ranked Furman women's soccer team remained undefeated in Southern Conference play with a 2-0 victory over College of Charleston Friday night at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium.

In a match that remained scoreless for the first 71 minutes, junior Melissa Turner gave Furman a 1-0 lead after collecting and knocking in a pass from freshman EmilyTurgeon inside the box. Senior Sarah Tollick added the second goal of the match just five minutes later as she placed a corner kick into the back of the net.

"I was pleased with our performance tonight, especially in the second half," said Furman head coach, Brian Lee. "Tonightıs game was a tough one, and Iım glad we could come away with a good conference win."

For Turner, it was her 16th goal of the season, and for Turgeon, her 14th assist. Both players are currently ranked in the top five in the nation in scoring.

Furman improves its Southern Conference record to 5-0 and their overall mark to 13-1. College of Charleston falls to 2-9 overall and 1-3 in the conference with the loss. Furmanıs next match will be on Sunday at 1:00 versus conference opponent Georgia Southern.
