BROWNLEE LEADS NATION IN ASSISTS; ALVAREZ, BLOUNT, CARSON ALSO RANK IN NATIONAL STATS

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman women's soccer player Kaye Brownlee continues to lead the nation in assists per match according to the latest NCAA Statistics. Freshman women's soccer player Katie Carson and men's standouts Daniel Alvarez and Scott Blount also rank in the top twenty in national statistics.

Brownlee, a sophomore from Kennesaw, Ga., has recorded 16 assists in Furman's first 18 matches. Furman's all-time leader in assists, Brownlee has recorded 35 assists in her career, despite playing only 38 career matches. Last season, she finished second in the nation with 19 assists in 20 matches.

Carson, a freshman from Greensboro, N.C., is ranked 12th in the nation in assists as she has posted 11 assists on the year.

On the men's side, Daniel Alvarez is 13th in the nation in assists per match with nine assists in his first 15 matches. Two weeks ago, Alvarez became Furman's all-time leader in assists with 34. Goalkeeper Scott Blount's goals against average of 0.55 places him 6th in the country.

In team statistics, the 6th ranked Furman men are 9th in team defense, and 5th in winning percentage. While the women's team places 9th in scoring, 19th in team defense, 16th in shutouts per game, and 5th in winning percentage.

The Furman men's soccer team is 6th in the nation and hold a 13-1-1 overall record, while the Furman women's soccer team is 8th in the Southeast Region and are 16-2 on the year. The combined record of Furman men's and women's soccer is second best in the nation.
