FURMAN'S ALVAREZ, BLOUNT, ANUCINSKI RANK IN NATIONAL STATISTICS

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman men's soccer players Daniel Alvarez and Scott Blount, along with women's soccer player Jessi Anucinski, are among the NCAA Division I national statistical leaders.

Senior midfielder Daniel Alvarez is 16th in the nation in assists per match with four assists in his first five matches. Alvarez, who now has 29 career assists, is only four assists shy of Furman's all-time record of 33, set by Jeff Jones in 1987. Sophomore Scott Blount's goals against average of 0.59 places him 17th in the nation.

Freshman Jessi Anucinski, Furman's back-up goalkeeper, was thrust into the Furman lineup just prior to Furman's match with Richmond and has performed remarkably in five matches, allowing only two goals. Her goals against average coming into the week of 0.48 was 18th in the country. Anucinski recorded her third shutout yesterday, dropping her current goals against average to 0.39.

In team statistics, the Furman men rank first in the nation in winning percentage and 15th in team defense. The women's team ranks 14th in scoring, 17th in team defense and 13th in winning percentage.
