FURMAN WOMEN'S SOCCER OPENS SPRING SCHEDULE

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman women's soccer team will open its 2000 spring schedule Wednesday at home against Presbyterian College.

Coming off its best season in school history, Furman will play its most challenging spring schedule to date. Featured on the slate are three matches against SEC teams, and a match against Presbyterian College, who spent part of the 1999 season as the #1 team in Divison II. Furman was scheduled to play in a tournament sponsored by Georgia State, but the tournament fell through recently. Furman may add an additional match soon. All four matches are scheduled for Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium.

"We have a strong group of returning players and I am excited to see what we can accomplish this spring," said head coach Brian Lee. "Our spring practices have gone well, but now it is time to match up against some of the top talent in the South."

Furman is coming off its best season in school history as the Paladins finished the season with a 20-3 record and earned their first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
