Furman Women's Soccer Wins JU Legends Tourney with 3-2 OT Win

Jacksonville, FL -- Melissa Turner scored two goals and recorded one assist to lead Furman to a 3-2 overtime victory over Jacksonville at the Jacksonville Legends Tournament on Saturday. The Lady Paladins were named champions of the tournament.

Turner, the tournament MVP, scored the game-winner eight minutes into the overtime period off a Kaye Brownlee direct kick. Freshman Katie Carson was fouled outside of the box to set up the game-winner.

Jacksonville opened the scoring with a goal 36 seconds into the match with a Stine Kloster goal. Turner retaliated with a goal at the 18:00 mark off a Kaye Brownlee assist to even the score at 1-1.

Later in the first half, Jacksonville pulled ahead again with a Trine Riis Groven goal off a Marit Foss corner. But the Lady Paladins evened the score three minutes later with a Kaye Brownlee goal.

Neither team scored in the second half, setting up the sudden death overtime.

Furman improves to 3-0, while JU falls to 1-1.
