GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman womenís soccer team, currently
on a record eight match winning streak is leading the Southern Conference
in every statistical category, according to rankings released Monday.
The Lady Paladins are 6-0 and in sole possession of first place in the conference. Senior Leah Versteegen has 10 goals and 7 assists on the year and leads the conference in total points scored (27), goal average (0.77), and points average (2.07).
Freshman Kaye Brownlee has recorded a school record 12 assists in 1998 and is in the top ten in the nation in assists per match. Brownlee leads the SoCon in assists average (0.92).
Freshman goalkeeper Melissa Barnes leads the conference in goals against average at 1.24 for the season. Barnes has recorded five shutouts on the season.
As a team, Furman leads the conference in both team scoring (2.77 goals a match) and team goaltending (1.22 goals a match).
Furman will host South Carolina Tuesday at 7 p.m.
