Georgia State Upends Furman In Final Seconds of Umbro Kickoff Classic

GREENVILLE, SC --  Furman and Georgia State played more than 89 scoreless minutes in Saturday's Umbro Kickoff Classic nightcap, before Georgia State's Chandra Yorgason scored her fourth goal of the tournament with no time left on the clock.

Furman and GSU had combined for 32 shots on goal Saturday night before the Panther score, but stubborn defense by both teams had kept the play even at 0-0. With the final seconds winding down Gina Decker brought the ball down the right sidelines and send a crossing pass to Yorgason who sent it into the goal on a diving header.

With the victory, the Panthers improved to 4-1 on the year while Furman fell to 2-3. Though both Georgia State and Buffalo were undefeated in the Umbro Kickoff Classic, Buffalo was declared the winner based on goal differential. The Bulls' Heather Collins was named tournament MVP.
