Furman Women's Soccer Falls To Buffalo

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's soccer team drooped a 3-1 decision to Buffalo in the opening night of the Umbro Kickoff Classic Friday at Eugene Stone Stadium.

After a scoreless first half, Mary Doherty scored for the Bulls in the opening minute of the second half off a Heather Collins pass. The Lady Paladins followed with a frenzy of shots, but were unable to capitalize to even the score.

Buffalo's Collins padded the lead with a fast break goal off a Paula Listrani assist. Collins later added her third goal just six minutes later. Furman's Kaye Brownlee scored on a penalty kick in the matchesÕ final 20 seconds.

"This was a disappointing performance tonight," Furman head coach Brian Lee said. "We played well in the middle of the field, but were not able to capitalize on our scoring opportunities."

Furman drops to 2-2 on the season, while Buffalo improves to 4-0. The Umbro Kickoff Classic continues Saturday as Furman takes on Georgia State 7 p.m., while Buffalo faces Liberty.
