Furman Women's Soccer Defeats Presbyterian

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's soccer team remained undefeated as they knocked off Presbyterian 1-0 Tuesday at Eugene E. Stone III Soccer Stadium in front of close to 500 spectators.

Sophomore Melissa Sutton scored the game's lone goal early in the first half from 15-yards out off a Sarah Tollick pass. The Lady Paladins survived a scare as Presbyterian rallied for numerous scoring opportunities late in the first half and throughout the second. The Blue Hose attempted 12 shots on goal, all in the final 60 minutes.

"Presbyterian played great today," Furman head coach Brian Lee said. "They probably deserved to win the game, but goalkeeper Jen McNutt came up big and pulled us through. Playing before such an incredible crowd helped us out as well."

Scoring:

Shots on Goal: Furman -- 13; Presbyterian -- 12.

Corner Kicks: Furman -- 5; Presbyterian -- 3.

Saves: Furman -- 5; Presbyterian -- 2.

Fouls: Furman -- 4; Presbyterian -- 8.
