GREENVILLE, S.C. --The Furman women's soccer team lost a hard fought battle with 10th ranked Clemson 2-0 Wednesday at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium.
The Lady Paladins played Clemson tough throughout the first half as neither team scored in the opening 45 minutes. Jenny Crawford eventually put the Lady Tigers on the board at the 64:30 mark in the second half on a sliding rebounded shot from Libby King. Just three minutes later Jenny Crawford scored her second goal of the match off a cross from Sara Burkett.
Furman played well defensively, but was unable to generate a strong offensive attack as Clemson outshot Furman 15-3.
"We played very hard," Furman head coach Brian Lee said. "It's tough to lose a match like that. We came out flat in the second half and Clemson capitalized. It also shows that we can hang in there with anybody."
With the loss, Furman falls to 4-2-1, while Clemson improves to 5-2.
