Furman defender Jill Braley was named Southern Conference Player-of-the-Week in women's soccer. Braley scored the game-winner with less than four minutes to play in overtime as Furman defeated Davidson 2-1 to secure a tie for third place in the conference. Braley also is credited with the assist on Sarah Tollick's goal with four minutes to play in regulation that sent the match to overtime.
Braley, a freshman from Marietta, Ga., has played in all 19 matches and started 13 for the Lady Paladins at defender.
"Jill really came through for us in the clutch," said Furman head coach Brian Lee. "She has been playing great defense for us all year, but she really stepped up her offensive performance last week."
