FURMAN OPENS PRESEASON WITH 2-1 WIN OVER GEORGIA STATE

ATLANTA - The ninth ranked Furman men's soccer won its first of two preseason matches 2-1 over Georgia State on Saturday.

Junior Clint Dempsey put the Paladins on top in the 12th minute with a goal off a Wes Windsor cross. After Georgia State evened the score at 1-1, senior Scott Hoch scored the game-winner in the 67th minute off a cross from the left wing by Mark Futrell.

Furman returns to action Friday night at Presbyterian College for its final preseason match before opening the season against No. 1 ranked Maryland on August 29 in Omaha, Nebraska.
