FURMAN MEN'S SOCCER PLACES FOUR ON ALL-SOCON FIRST TEAM

GREENVILLE - The Furman men's soccer team placed a league-leading four players on the All-Southern Conference First Team, the league announced Friday.

Furman seniors Scott Hoch and McNeil Cronin, along with juniors Clint Dempsey and Alex Maslow represented the Paladins on the first team.

The all-conference selection was the first for Hoch, who recently became only the 17th player in school history to pass the 60 point threshold. He leads the team with nine goals on the season and ranks ninth all-time in Furman history with 27 career goals.

McNeil Cronin earns first team all-conference honors for the third time in his career as he was also selected to the team in 2000 and 2002. Cronin has helped anchor the Paladin defense this season.

Clint Dempsey, a member of the United States Under-20 National Team, has scored five goals and recorded four assists for the Paladins in the midfield. This is his third consecutive All-SoCon appearance and second consecutive first team selection.

Alex Maslow earns his first All-SoCon citation as the SoCon's first team goalkeeper. Maslow sports a 1.40 goals against average and has recorded three shutouts on the year.

Furman, the No. 4 seed in the SoCon Tournament, plays fifth seeded Appalachian State Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in the first round of the championship.
