FURMAN MEN'S SOCCER OPENS SPRING SCHEDULE AGAINST CLEMSON

GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman men's soccer team will open its 2003 spring schedule Tuesday at home against Clemson at 7:00. The match is the first of five matches on the spring slate for the Paladins. Admission is free for all spring matches.

Four of the five spring matches will be played at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium as the Paladins will play host to two 2002 NCAA tournament participants in Coastal Carolina on April 7 and Clemson on Tuesday. Furman will also host Southern Wesleyan and Presbyterian this spring. Furman's lone road match will be at Georgia State on March 22. The Paladins will conclude their spring schedule with the traditional Alumni match on April 26.

"This schedule should challenge us this spring," said Furman head coach Doug Allison. "I am really looking forward to seeing some of our younger talent mature and develop."

The Paladins finished the 2002 season with a 19-3-1 overall record, including a third round appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Furman set new NCAA Division I records last season as it extended its Southern Conference unbeaten streak to 43 matches and as it recorded 11 straight shutouts from October 9 through November 27, going 1,129 minutes without allowing a goal.
