FURMAN OPENS NCAA TOURNAMENT AT HOME VS. LOYOLA

GREENVILLE, SC -- The eighth ranked Furman men's soccer team will play host to Loyola (Md.) in the first round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament on Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

Tickets for the contest are $7 for adults and $3 for students and children and may be purchased at Eugene Stone Soccer Stadium beginning at 4:00 p.m.

The eighth ranked Furman football team hosts Chattanooga at 2:00 on Saturday and the soccer match is projected to start shortly after the conclusion of the football game.

The winner of the Furman-Loyola (Md.) soccer match will travel to Richmond, Va., to face eighth seeded Virginia Commonwealth on Wednesday, November 27 at 7:00 p.m.

Furman enters the match on a nine-match winning streak with a 17-2-1 overall record. The Paladins have not been scored on in those nine matches and have gone 852 minutes without allowing a goal. The NCAA Division I record for consecutive shutouts is 10 matches. The Paladins recently set an NCAA Division I record as it extended its Southern Conference unbeaten streak to 43 matches with a 3-0 win over UNCG on Saturday.

Loyola (Md.) won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) regular season and tournament championship and sport a 13-4-3 overall record. Loyola (Md.) won the MAAC Tournament Championship with a 2-1 win over Marist. The Greyhounds also bring an impressive streak to the match as Loyola has not lost in 12 contests, sporting a 9-0-3 record in those matches.

Furman is making its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and its sixth overall.
