ANDY KIDD NAMED TO COLLEGE SOCCER NEWS TEAM-OF-THE-WEEK

GREENVILLE, SC -- Senior Andy Kidd was named to the College Soccer News National Team-of-the-Week for November 25.

Kidd, a defender from Jacksonville, Fla., helped lead the eighth-ranked Paladins to a 2-0 victory over Loyola (Md.) in the first round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament on Saturday night. Kidd is a vital part of a Furman defense that has recorded ten straight shutouts, tying the NCAA Division I record. The Paladins have also improved on another school record as they have put together 942 consecutive shutout minutes. Furman has not allowed a goal since the first half of a match on Oct. 5 against St. Louis.

"I am very happy that Andy has received this award," said head coach Doug Allison. "Our defense has played outstanding over the last ten matches, and I am glad that they are starting to get the recognition that they deserve."

Furman returns to action on Wednesday night as it travels to face Virginia Commonwealth in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
