JOHN BARRY NUSUM, MATT GOLDSMITH SELECTED FOR UMBRO SELECT COLLEGE ALL-STAR CLASSIC

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman seniors John Barry Nusum and Matt Goldsmith have been selected to participate in the 2002 Umbro Select College All-Star Classic February 6-11, at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Nusum and Goldsmith will also have a chance to showcase their talent in front of Major League Soccer scouts.

They are two of 32 men's college seniors selected to the participate in the weekend's activities.

"This is a tremendous honor for both John Barry and Matt," said Furman head coach Doug Allison. "I expect that both will have excellent professional careers and this all-star weekend will give them an opportunity to showcase their talents."

The East-West men's game will be played Saturday, Feb. 9. Other events during the weekend include a banquet for the players, a Major League Soccer player combine, along with the Major League Soccer player draft.

Nusum is the most decorated soccer player in Furman history as he recently became the second Furman athlete to ever be named first team All-America three years in a row. He was one of the three finalists for the Hermann Trophy and he is Furman's all-time leading scorer with 61 goals, 39 assists, and 161 points in his career.

Goldsmith is also a three-time All-American and three-time All-South performer. Goldsmith started all 91 matches Furman played over his four-year career.
