TANNER, ESQUIVEL NAMED TO NATIONAL TEAMS-OF-THE-WEEK

GREENVILLE, SC -- Furman men's soccer players Anthony Esquivel and Patrick Tanner were named to national teams-of-the-week on Wednesday. Esquivel was selected to the Soccer America Team-of-the-Week, while Tanner made the College Soccer News Team-of-the-Week.

Esquivel was named Southern Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player after he came off the bench to score twice in the final 27 minutes to give Furman the 2-1 victory in the SoCon Championship Match against UNCG. Esquivel also scored in Furmanıs 3-0 quarterfinal victory over Wofford as he led all SoCon players with three goals in the tournament.

Tanner was selected to the Southern Conference All-Tournament squad as he tallied the game-winners in Furman's quarterfinal and semifinal victories. He scored the first goal of the day in Furmanıs 3-0 win over Wofford and notched the lone goal in Furman's 1-0 semifinal win over College of Charleston.

Furman is 17-4 on the year and will face UAB Friday night in the first round of the NCAA Tournament in Columbia, S.C. at the University of South Carolina.
