NO. 15 FURMAN MEN'S SOCCER SET TO BATTLE 11TH RANKED CLEMSON

GREENVILLE, SC -- The 15th ranked Furman men's soccer team will host Upstate rival and No. 11 Clemson on Wednesday night at 7:00 at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium.

Ticket prices for this marquee match-up are $4 for adults and $2 for children and are available in advance by visiting the Timmons Arena ticket office or by calling 294-3099. Tickets will also be on sale at the gate one hour prior to the match.

Furman enters the match ranked 15th by Soccer America and College Soccer News. Furman is currently 9-2 on the season and 4-0 in the Southern Conference. The Paladins are 2-2 this season against ranked opponents after defeating Notre Dame and Virginia Commonwealth and falling to South Carolina and UAB.

The Furman offense, ranked second in the nation in goals per match, is led by a tandem of forwards made up of leading scorer Sergei Raad with seven goals and seven assists on the season and John Barry Nusum, a 2001 Hermann Trophy candidate. Nusum currently has seven goals and four assists on the season. The Paladin defense is anchored by senior goalkeeper Scott Blount who has recorded 37 saves on the year and boasts a 1.01 goals against average.

Clemson comes into the match ranked 11th by Soccer America and 13th by College Soccer News. Clemson is 8-3 overall this season with a 1-1 mark in ACC play. Clemson has won matches against Notre Dame, Virginia Commonwealth, and South Carolina, but dropped its last contest 2-0 against second ranked Virginia.

"This match has all the ingredients to be a classic," said Furman head coach Doug Allison. "I'm expecting an enormous crowd and an electric atmosphere. This should be a great college soccer match."

Furman soccer is 104-27-9 in Allison's tenure as head coach, including a 2-0 record versus Clemson at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium. The last time Furman and Clemson met on Furmanšs campus, 2,852 spectators watched the Paladins defeat the Tigers 3-2 in double overtime.
