THREE PALADINS EARN ALL-SOUTH HONORS

GREENVILLE -- Furman seniors John Barry Nusum and Matt Goldsmith and sophomore Sergei Raad were each selected as members of the NSCAA/adidas All-South teams this season.

Nusum, a Hermann Trophy and MAC award finalist, was named to the All-South first team, after recently being named first team All-America by the NSCAA for the third straight season. Nusum, after leading the Paladins in scoring this season with 16 goals and seven assists for 39 points, will graduate as Furman's all-time leader in career goals and points with 61 goals and 161 points.

Raad, named to the All-South second team, led Furman with ten assists on the year and was second on the team with ten goals. Raad was also named to the All-Southern Conference second team this season.

Goldsmith, who has two previous All-South honors, was named to the third team this season.Goldsmith notched two goals and three assists on the season for the Paladins and was also named first team All-Southern Conference.

"I'm very proud of these guys," said head coach Doug Allison. "All three of them are great soccer players and deserving of these honors."

Furman, ranked 17th in the final Soccer America poll, finished the 2001 campaign with a 17-5 overall record after capturing the Southern Conference regular season and tournament championships and earning a spot in its third consecutive NCAA Tournament.
