GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman men's soccer is ranked 15th in the nation in the latest Soccer America national poll.
Furman dropped one spot after defeating Wofford 2-1 and tying South Carolina 1-1 last week. Against South Carolina, Furman scored what appeared to be the game-winner in the second overtime period, but it was called back due to an obstruction call in front of the keeper.
Furman is currently third in the nation in points per match and is leading the nation in total goals scored with 47. The Paladins are 11-2-1 overall and 5-0 in the Southern Conference. Furman has currently won 16 straight SoCon contests dating back to the start of the 1999 season.
The Paladins have two key Southern Conference matches this week as they are at Georgia Southern on Wednesday and host Davidson on Saturday. Davidson is currently 10-3-1 overall and 6-0 in the conference.
Furman is also ranked 16th in the NCAA Division I media poll, 21st in the NSCAA national poll, and 21st by Soccer Times. The Paladins are fourth in the NCSAA South Region poll. In each of the four major menıs soccer polls, there is a different No. 1 team. SMU is ranked first by Soccer America, Indiana by the media, North Carolina by Soccer Times, and San Jose State by the NSCAA.
