GREENVILLE, SC -- The Furman men's soccer improved to sixth in the latest Soccer America national rankings and remain ranked in all major national polls.
Furman won two key non-conference, out of region matches last weekend at the Clemson/Nike Invitational. The Paladins downed nationally ranked Cal State Fullerton and Brown in the tournament.
Furman travels to face The Citadel on Thursday and returns home to host fellow 1999 NCAA Quarterfinalist UAB on Sunday at 3 p.m. Furman is also ranked 10th in the NCAA Division I media poll, 14th in the NSCAA poll, and 12th by Soccer Times.
The Paladins are also ranked third in the NSCAA South Region poll. Furman is ranked fifth by internet publisher Mad Dog Soccer.
Furman defender McNeil Cronin earned defensive MVP honors at the Clemson/Nike Invitational as he recorded two assists and anchored a Furman defense that allowed only 1 goal in two matches.
Three of the top ten teams in the nation, according to Soccer America, are from the state of South Carolina as Clemson is eighth and South Carolina is 10th.
